Assisted Living UAP

General Purpose
To provide quality care for the residents of this home by creating and maintaining a clean, tidy and loving environment. To assist in the overall operation of the assisted in accordance with current federal, state and local standards governing the assisted living, and as may be directed by the manager.

Qualifications

  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be trained as Medication Technician or UAP
  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must show ability to read and write in a legible and understanding manner
  • Must speak and understand English
  • Must have proven exemplary patience, tact, enthusiasm, and positive attitude toward the elderly and those with special needs

Essential Job Functions
Showing – you may need to assist with the showering depending on the level of independence of each resident

Resident Relations
Making sure you strongly encourage all residents to attend activities daily. It is important to make time with each resident and listen. This can be challenging with the demands of the job so try to converse with your residents while you work. Address any concerns or refer them to your manager, and more importantly, stay positive and loving toward the residents.

Medications
You will have or will take the medication administration course certified by the State of South Dakota or equivalent from other States approved by the State of South Dakota. You will administer medications, breathing treatments, skin ointments, eye drops, and other personal cares under the license of an RN.

Co-Worker Relations
Assisting with work schedule, assisting with communicating concerns and helping resolve them, and giving feedback. Keeping each other accountable to our objective of creating and maintaining a clean, tidy and loving environment for our residents.

Safety
Attending and assisting with in-services, inspections of the building, water temperature checks, refrigerator/freezer temperature checks, and assisting with other tasks to create a safe environment for the residents, staff, and visitors.

Resident Personal Cares
Manicures, pedicures, skin care, hair care, teeth cleaning, dressing, and others. The residents should look their best at all times. Make sure they are clean, and their appearance is a positive reflection on them and you.

Vitals
Blood pressure of each resident will be done routinely and whenever they have a fall or spell of illness. The top number (systolic) of a blood pressure reading should not exceed 140 or go below 100, and the bottom number (diastolic) should not be over 90 or go below 60. A normal pulse is between 60 and 90.
Laundry – washing resident personal laundry and facility linens.

Housekeeping
Part of our goal at this facility is to create a clean and tidy environment. This will be completed through routine and as needed cleaning of the resident’s rooms and other areas of the building.

Kitchen
Cleaning and maintaining a clean and safe kitchen leads to the health and security for all residents and staff. The meal preparation includes: following menus, communication with each resident and co-worker, preparing the food items for cooking, cooking, serving, and good customer service.

Public Education
Conduction tours, inviting opportunities for community involvement and the building, maintaining a positive community image, market the facility and its services.
**All other duties as assigned by manager/administrator.

Assisted Living Caregiver
